Further to the recent guidance issued by the Health and Safety Executive we believe that it is prudent that all 3D customers are fully aware of the potential risks of using printers within their physical locations, these are associated with the process of heating and extruding plastic filament to form 3D objects.

Things to consider include; the recommendation that any 3D printer purchased for schools, colleges, and universities must carry a CE mark, the location of the system needs to be checked for adequate ventilation and in the case of a classroom environment a local exhaust ventilation system (LEV) be used, such as an exhaust control cabinet. This should be fitted with an adequate fan and filters to enable the removal of small particles and organic emissions from the melting of filaments.

Please have a look at our Kora section of the website for further details.
